Chapter Seven

We left the prison and Quinn drove us to the Wormwood Scrubs rail station. As we stood on the platform, Quinn turned to Holmes.

“Is there anything that I might do while you are away Mr. Holmes?”

“As a matter of fact, there is still the question of Warder Baldwin’s sudden windfall. After all, given the benefit of the doubt, there may be a perfectly mundane reason for it. It would be of some value if you interviewed Mrs. Baldwin regarding this matter.”

“As you wish, Sir. Where may I send a telegram as to the reply?”

“We will be at University College for most of the afternoon.” Holmes replied, as we boarded the train.

We rode in silence; Holmes sitting and staring out at the scenery and me dozing across from him in the compartment. Soon, we disembarked at Euston station, very near Holmes’ old lodgings on Montague Street. A quick walk found us in Gower Street, admiring the architecture of the venerable institution.
